Information we collect

We collect information to provide better Service to all of our Users, including personalization of the User’s experience. The information we gather enables us to personalize, improve and continue to operate the Services. In connection with certain aspects of the Services, we may request, collect and/or display some of your Personal Information.

When you create an account, you must provide Registration Data, including an email address, phone number, username and password and/or other authentication. You may provide additional information to enhance your User experience. If you create an account by connecting through another third party service, we may use public information from that connecting account to help complete your account.

Device information

We may collect and store information (including personal information) locally on your device using mechanisms such as browser web storage (including HTML 5) and application data caches.
Cookies and anonymous identifiers
We may use various technologies to collect and store information when you visit the Service, and this may include sending one or more cookies or anonymous identifiers to your device. MediaCorp may use both session cookies and persistent cookies to better understand how you interact with our Services, to monitor aggregate usage by our users and web traffic routing on our Services, and to customize and improve our Services. The policies contained herein apply to all devices that act as internet mediums (e.g. mobile devices, stationary devices, cameras, computers, etc.). Most browsers automatically accept cookies. If you do not want cookies from MediaCorp or other websites, you can instruct your browser, by changing its settings, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the websites you visit. However, it should be of note that some aspects of the Service may not function properly if your cookies are disabled.

We use the information collected from the Service to provide, maintain and improve the Service. In addition to some of the specific uses described in the Privacy Policy, we may use this information as follows:

Law and Harm: We reserve the right to access, read, preserve, and disclose any information as we reasonably believe is necessary to (i) satisfy any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request, (ii) enforce these Terms of Service, including investigation of potential violations hereof, (iii) detect, prevent, or otherwise address fraud, security or technical issues, (iv) respond to user support requests, or (v) protect the rights, property or safety of us, our users and the public.

Business Transfers:

In the event that MediaCorp is involved in a bankruptcy, merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets, your information may be sold or transferred as part of that transaction. The promises in this Privacy Policy will apply to your information as transferred to the new entity.

Non-Private or Non-Personal Information:

We may share or disclose your non-private, aggregated or otherwise non-personal information, such as your public user profile information, public posts, the people you follow or that follow you, or the number of users who clicked on a particular link (even if only one did).

Accessing and Updating Personal Information

When you use any of our Services, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access to your personal information and either to correct this data if it is inaccurate or to delete such data at your request if it is not otherwise required to be retained by law or for legitimate business purposes. We ask each individual User to identify himself or herself and the information requested to be accessed, corrected or removed before processing such requests, and we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive or systematic, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, or would be extremely impractical (for instance, requests concerning information residing on backup tapes), or for which access is not otherwise required. Information Regarding Your Social Networks:

As mentioned above, you may be able to register for or access the Services using a Third Party Services, such as your social media account (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). Occasionally, you can also use your Account on our Services to interact with your accounts on these other services. For example, you may be able to access posting and sharing tools on the Services that allow you to post information to your social networks outside of the Services (“Share”). By using these tools, you acknowledge that some account information from your account on the applicable Third Party Service may be transmitted into your Account with us, and that this Privacy Policy covers such information.

Furthermore, if a tool, such as the Share tool, is operated by a Third Party Service, the Third Party Service that operates the tool may collect information about your browser or online activity, which would be subject to the Third Party Service’s privacy policy. When you use these tools, some of your information from the Services may be shared with the Third Party Service and others. Therefore, we encourage you to read the privacy policies and other policies of any Third Party Services, including without limitation, any applicable social networks, you use in connection with the Services. User Content

All Content added, created, uploaded, submitted, distributed, or posted to the Services by users (collectively “User Content”), whether publicly posted or privately transmitted, is the sole responsibility of the person who originated such User Content. The Services may contain Content specifically provided by us, our partners or our users and such Content is protected by copyrights, trademarks, service marks, patents, trade secrets or other proprietary rights and laws. Subject to these Terms of Service, we grant each user of the Services a worldwide, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable and non-transferable license to use (i.e., to download and display locally) Content solely for purposes of using the Services. Use, reproduction, modification, distribution or storage of any Content (other than your User Content) for other than purposes of using the Services is expressly prohibited without prior written permission from us. We do not guarantee that any Content will be made available on the App or through the Services. We reserve the right to, but do not have any obligation to, (i) remove, edit or modify or otherwise manipulate any Content in our sole discretion, at any time, without notice to you and for any reason (including, but not limited to, upon receipt of claims or allegations from third parties or authorities relating to such Content or if we are concerned that you may have violated these Terms of Service), or for no reason at all and (ii) to remove or block any Content from the Services.

Rules of Conduct

As a condition of use, you promise not to use the Services for any purpose that is prohibited by these Terms of Service. You are responsible for all of your activity in connection with the Services. You shall not (and shall not permit any third party to) either (a) take any action or (b) upload, download, post, submit or otherwise distribute or facilitate distribution of any Content on or through the Service, including without limitation any User Content, that: infringes any patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, right of publicity or other right of any other person or entity or violates any law or contractual duty; you know is false, misleading, untruthful or inaccurate; is unlawful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, libelous, deceptive, fraudulent, invasive of another's privacy, tortuous, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, offensive, profane, contains or depicts nudity, contains or depicts sexual activity, or is otherwise inappropriate as determined by us in our sole discretion; constitutes unauthorized or unsolicited advertising, junk or bulk e-mail (“spamming”);contains software viruses or any other computer codes, files, or programs that are designed or intended to disrupt, damage, limit or interfere with the proper function of any software, hardware, or telecommunications equipment or to damage or obtain unauthorized access to any system, data, password or other information of ours or of any third party; impersonates any person or entity, including any of our employees or representatives; or includes anyone’s identification documents or sensitive financial information. You shall not: (i) take any action that imposes or may impose (as determined by us in our sole discretion) an unreasonable or disproportionately large load on our (or our third party providers’) infrastructure; (ii) interfere or attempt to interfere with the proper working of the Services or any activities conducted on the Services; (iii) bypass, circumvent or attempt to bypass or circumvent any measures we may use to prevent or restrict access to the Services (or other accounts, computer systems or networks connected to the Services); (iv) run any form of auto-responder or “spam” on the Services; (v) use manual or automated software, devices, or other processes to “crawl” or “spider” any page of the App; (vi) harvest or scrape any Content from the Services; or (vii) otherwise take any action in violation of our guidelines and policies. You shall not (directly or indirectly): (i) decipher, decompile, disassemble, reverse engineer or otherwise attempt to derive any source code or underlying ideas or algorithms of any part of the Services (including without limitation any application), except to the limited extent applicable laws specifically prohibit such restriction, (ii) modify, translate, or otherwise create derivative works of any part of the Services, or (iii) copy, rent, lease, distribute, or otherwise transfer any of the rights that you receive hereunder. You shall abide by all applicable local, state, national and international laws and regulations.

Warranty Disclaimer

We have no special relationship with or fiduciary duty to you. You acknowledge that we have no duty to take any action regarding: which users gain access to the Services; what Content you access via the Services; or how you may interpret or use the Content. You release us from all liability for you having acquired or not acquired Content through the Services. We make no representations concerning any Content contained in or accessed through the Services, and we will not be responsible or liable for the accuracy, copyright compliance, or legality of material or Content contained in or accessed through the Services. The views and opinions of our hosts are their own and not necessarily representative of the views and opinions of the Company or its employees, and the Company assumes no responsibility for the Content, accuracy, or views of or opinions expressed by such hosts.

Indemnification

You shall defend, indemnify, and hold harmless us, our affiliates and each of our and their respective employees, contractors, directors, suppliers and representatives from all liabilities, claims, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that arise from or relate to your use or misuse of, or access to, the Services, Content, or otherwise from your User Content, violation of these Terms of Use, or infringement by you, or any third party using your Account or identity in the Services, of any intellectual property or other right of any person or entity.

Limitation of Liability

In no event shall we, nor our directors, employees, agents, partners, suppliers or content providers, be liable under contract, tort, strict liability, negligence or any other legal or equitable theory with respect to the services (i) for any lost profits, data loss, cost of procurement of substitute goods or services, or special, indirect, incidental, punitive, compensatory or consequential damages of any kind whatsoever (however arising), or (ii) for any bugs, viruses, trojan horses, or the like (regardless of the source of origination).

Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure to perform our obligations hereunder where such failure results from any cause beyond our reasonable control, including, without limitation, mechanical, electronic or communications failure or degradation.

Assignment

These Terms of Use are personal to you, and are not assignable, transferable or sub licensable by you except with our prior written consent. We may assign, transfer or delegate any of our rights and obligations hereunder without consent.

Agency

No agency, partnership, joint venture, or employment relationship is created as a result of these Terms of Use and neither party has any authority of any kind to bind the other in any respect.

MediaCorp will not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to third parties, excluding trusted business partners who assist us in the operation of our websites and Services and who agree to keep such information confidential and anonymous. We take your information security seriously and employ a series of administrative, physical and electronic measures to protect your information from getting into the wrong hands. Despite this, the Internet is not a completely secure environment and we cannot guarantee that information you disclose via our Services will not be accessed through some unforeseen breach of the safeguards we have in place.

User Profile Information

User profile information including your username and other information you enter may be displayed to other users to facilitate user interaction within the Services.

Our Services may direct you to third party websites when you click on banner ads or other types of advertiser links.
